Boeing 737 Max production halted pending federal negotiations

Following the Federal Aviation Administration's decision not to renew licences for Boeing's Max 737 in 2020, the company has announced that it is halting manufacturing for the plane, and may have to shut down production completely, pending federal negotiations. Boeing's Max 737 is its most popular plane, but its licence has been suspended after two Max 737s crashed this year, killing 346 people.

CEO David Calhoun said in a statement that the pandemic "is affecting every aspect of our business, including airline customer demand, production continuity and supply chain stability."
