“Catalonia will be independent,” says Quim Torra

According to the regional leader of Catalonia, Quim Torra, the region will be independent of Spain soon. The Spanish Government invited Torra for talks following the political instability in the country. Talking to Reuters on Friday, he said that he wants to agree on a date for an independence referendum. He added that the path to independence for Catalonia was irreversible.

Joseph Lowery, an important ally of Martin Luthor King during the 1960's American civil rights movement, has unfortunately passed away at the age of 98. He worked for racial equality well into his nineties and died surrounded by his family. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009.
