GoFundMe scammer pleads guilty to fraud

Mark D'Amico, the man responsible for orchestrating a fake feel-good story on GoFundMe to raise over $400,000, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to fraud. He and his co-conspirator both have to return all of the money to the donors. The story and scam were originally published in 2017.
