Large anti-Islamophobia rallies take place in France

More than 10,000 people came out in Paris to demonstrate against the rising Islamaphobia in the country. France has one of the largest Muslim minority populations in Europe and has recently seen a rise in the popularity of alt-right groups that promote Islamaphobia. The rallies received backing from left-wing organizations and various Muslim groups in the country.

France's EU affairs minister, Amelie de Montchalin, has stated that Boris Johnson's Conservative UK government will not be able to force France to accept trade terms that damage the country's long-term economic well-being, despite Johnson's government setting a non-extendable time limit, 31st December 2020, on a trade deal with the EU.

France and Britain to face a tough post-Brexit dispute

Jean-Yves Le Drian, France's foreign minister, has stated that he expects the trade negotiations between his country and post-Brexit Britain to be tough and does not expect them to be completed before 2020 is over. Despite having officially exited the European Union, Britain still enjoys member-level trading rights in a transitionary period that expires on 31 December, for which it needs to have renewed negotiations.
