COVID-19 pandemic and gender-based violence
Fewed by - Wafa Masood Khan
In pandemics, especially ones that require quarantine, gender-based violence (GBV) often increases. School closures and quarantine imposed during the Ebola outbreak in West Africa led to women experiencing more sexual violence. This, coupled with disruption in GBV services due to the health crisis, resulted in limited access to public health services and justice systems. COVID-19 is an opportunity to do right by supporting the vulnerable in our communities.
