Unrest in Paris amid 'Yellow Vests' protests

Since early December, the Yellow Vests demonstrations have intensified with support from trade unions to protest against French president Emmanuel Macron's announcement of the pension regime's overhaul, with the last few days of the year seeing widespread transport strikes and clashes with police that have resulted in the use of tear gas in multiple areas of Paris.
