Women directed more top grossing films in 2019 than ever before

According to a new study by the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative more female directors made top-grossing films than ever before in the history of cinema. Around 10.6% of the top films of the year were by women, which is still a minority of cases. These low numbers are often attributed to the lack of opportunities for women in Hollywood.
