Sonos acquires Snips for $37.5 million

Sonos, a smart speaker manufacturer, has bought the Paris-based voice assistant Snips for 37.5 million USD. Snips differentiates itself from Google and Amazon's smart assistants by storing all user data locally rather than online, which Sonos expects will give its privacy-conscious users more peace of mind, and provide an in-house voice assistant solution should Google and Amazon pull their digital assistants off of Sonos' speakers due to competition.

Conde Nast CEO says 'jury's out' on Apple News Plus

Roger Lynch, CEO of Conde Nast, has stated that he believes Apple's premium magazine service has not had much of an impact yet. Lynch also stated that Apple's 50 percent commission on revenue was exorbitant, and that its Apple News Plus service might potentially cannibalize Conde Nast's own services.
