Apple granted patent for software that would let you take socially distant group selfies

According to the patent application (first discovered by Patently Apple), an Apple device user (it’s not clear whether the feature would be available on iPads, iPhones, or both) could invite others to take part in a group selfie, and the software would arrange them together in a single image.

Ikea purchases AI imaging startup for room visualizations

The Swedish furniture giant Ikea has purchased Geomagical Labs, an AI imaging startup, for an undisclosed amount to bring an innovative room visualization technique to its customers. Using Geomagical Labs' imaging technology, users will be able to take a picture of any room with any smartphone, remove the furniture present and be able to decorate the room virtually from scratch using Ikea furniture.

Apple bought the Dark Sky app and has shut donw its Android verison, Along with the death of the Android app, Dark Sky’s API (application programming interface) will no longer be available for others to use, meaning that other popular apps like Carrot Weather that rely on the API will have to find an alternative solution, although they’ll be given until the end of 2021 to do so.

Game show app HQ Trivia shuts down

Built by two of the founders of the popular, now-defunct short video sharing platform Vine, HQ Trivia was an app that allowed users to win real money by participating in an online mobile-based game show, answering trivia questions on various subjects. But due to several issues, its userbase fell from a peak of 2.3 million to just 67,000 last month, causing the founders to shut it down.
