Wang et al. (2020) have investigated how air pollution is affected during the COVID-19 outbreak in China. They have estimated the impact of emission reductions due to reduced human activities that contribute to pollution. Their study concludes that even though a decrease in transportation and industry is beneficial for the environment, the benefits are not enough to avoid severe air pollution events and are overwhelmed by adverse meteorology.
