Catalan independence movement protesters occupy train station in Barcelona

Supporters of Catalan independence in Barcelona occupied the city's main railway station as a show of solidarity with the leaders of the Catalan separatist movement, nine of whom were arrested and imprisoned by Spanish courts last month. While the protesters called for demonstrations at nine train stations, police report only the one station saw any real assembly. Catalan separatist protests have intensified after a failed 2017 attempt to achieve independence.
