According to Sharrelle Barber of Drexel University, the pre-existing racial and health inequalities already present in the US are being exacerbated by COVID-19. Across the country, deaths due to COVID-19 are disproportionately high among African Americans. Black and Latino communities, immigrants, and Native Americans are bearing the disproportionate brunt of the disease.
