Fenech's immunity plea over journalist murder denied

Yorgen Fenech, prominent businessman arrested for involvement in the murder of investigative journalist Caruana Galizia, was denied immunity by the government of Malta. Fenech, who has significant interests in retail, property, hospitality and gambling, filed a plea for immunity for his cooperation in Galizia's murder case. Fenech has been connected to powerful government officials, with two ministers being made to resign due to being involved with him.

Prosecutors in Istanbul have said that they have prepared an indictment against 20 suspects in the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Germany is investigating people who may have spied for China

German prosecutors have said that they are currently investigating three people who they suspect have been spying for China. Among the suspects is an EU diplomat although nothing else is known about the individuals involved. This may be the first time investigators actually uncover spying attempts by China in Europe.

Ukraine demands compensation and investigation from Iran over crashed plane

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the Iranian attack on Ukraine International Airline's Flight 752, which killed all 176 people on board including Ukrainians, Canadians and Iranians. Zelenskyy also demanded full compensation from the Iranian government for the lives lost. Iran had initially denied striking down the plane, calling it psychological warfare, but the country's president Hassan Rouhani admitted to the mistake under mounting international pressure.

Zimbabwe: Vice President's wife tried to kill her husband, awaiting trial

Marry Mubaiwa, the wife of the Vice President of Zimbabwe has been charged with attempted murder after she tried to remove her very sick husband from the hospital. She was fully aware of his condition and removed a medical intravenous drip before trying to sneak him out. She has also been charged with laundering $1 million to South Africa.
