Internet access restored in Kashmir with severe restrictions

Indian-administered Kashmir saw its internet access restored today with severe restrictions on the kinds of websites users can visit, with only 300 websites included on the list deemed safe for access, none of which are social media platforms. The decision ends a nearly six-month-long internet blackout in the region which has caused estimated economic losses of about 2.5 billion USD.

UK government takes action against fake coronavirus advice

The UK government has announced that it will crackdown on fake news related to the COVID-19 infection being disseminated on social media and Whatsapp, which includes false information about treating symptoms and avoiding infection. A Rapid Response Unit has been set up which will collaborate with the Infotagion website to pinpoint sources of coronavirus misinformation.
