Italian education minister steps down due to lack of funds
Italian Education Minister Lorenzo Fioramonti has resigned as the government did not raise the education budget by $3.3 billion to improve the country's schools and universities. He previously threatened to resign if the budget was not raised and kept his word. Italy only spends 3.6% of its budget on education, which is less than the 5% spent by other EU countries.

According to those in charge of collecting coronavirus data, Italy probably has ten times more coronavirus cases than the reported 64,000. Since testing can only take place at hospitals or labs, a large number of cases have likely gone undetected. The country is seriously short on both masks and ventilators.
