Italian education minister steps down due to lack of funds

Italian Education Minister Lorenzo Fioramonti has resigned as the government did not raise the education budget by $3.3 billion to improve the country's schools and universities. He previously threatened to resign if the budget was not raised and kept his word. Italy only spends 3.6% of its budget on education, which is less than the 5% spent by other EU countries.
