Major events not necessary to explain oxygen-rich Earth, study finds
Scientists at the University of Leeds in England simulated the early Earth's atmosphere on a computer, in an attempt to explain the Great Oxidation Event, which occurred 2.4 billion years ago and greatly increased oxygen levels on Earth, and ultimately allowed for life to evolve. The simulation suggests that gradual changes in nutrient cycles alone may have been responsible for the oxygen-richness, not necessarily a large event.

Two asteroids coming towards Earth in 2020
American space agency NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies has identified two asteroids that will pass close to the Earth in 2020, with the first, named 2020 EF, passing near the Earth at a speed of 10,000 mph. At 98 feet, 2020 EF is too small to cause significant damage in case of collision, while the second asteroid, 2020 DP4, measuring 180 feet with a speed of 18,000 mph.

Vancouver residents will see a gigantic supermoon in April
Though Vancouver residents also saw a supermoon in the month of March, the city will experience yet another gigantic supermoon in April, with the moon appearing as much as 15 percent brighter and 7 percent larger in the sky due to its proximity to the Earth.
