Prolonged viral RNA shedding in COVID-19 patients
Fewed by - Wafa Masood Khan
Xu et al. (2020), in a retrospective study of 113 COVID-19 patients outside Wuhan, have identified the independent risk factors of prolonged viral RNA shedding. They claim that male gender, old age, delay in hospital admission after the onset of symptoms, and invasive mechanical ventilation are associated with prolonged RNA shedding. They suggest avoiding delays in hospital admission and general treatments.
