Samsung profits falter, Apple tops smartphone sales
For the fourth quarter of 2019, South Korean smartphone giant Samsung reported strong smartphone sales, but blamed a 57 percent decrease in operating profits of displays and semiconductors for a sharp decline in profits. The company conceded to Apple's commanding lead this quarter, with 70.7 million sales compared to Samsung's 68.8 million.

Alexa hack granted attackers access to an Echo user's smart home network
A number of vulnerabilities have been revealed in Amazon's Alexa, highlighting the need for providers of smart home platforms, such as Apple's HomeKit, to maintain security as part of the service.
