Serena Williams wins first title in three years

American tennis player and former world number one Serena Williams defeated opponent Jessica Pegula 6-3 6-4 to win the Auckland Classic title, her first in three years, and her first title after becoming a mother. Williams holds 23 Grand Slam single championship titles, beaten only by Margaret Court's 24, a record she is eager to break at the Australian Open in late January.
