UK parliament will outlaw Brexit negotiation extension beyond 2020
UK prime minister Boris Johnson, whose Conservative party won a historic majority in the general elections this week, announced his intentions to sign into law a resolution requiring all Brexit negotiations to conclude before 2020. He hopes that the move will accelerate negotiations with the EU, since in the absence of a comprehensive trade deal, UK companies would be burdened under the more stringent requirements of the World Trade Organization.

Singapore’s ruling party PAP wins 83 out of 93 seats in the parliament
Singapore’s ruling People’s Action Party extended its unbroken rule in Friday’s election, but its vote share slipped near a record low as the main opposition party secured 10 seats, the most ever held by any opposition party.
