US embassy in Baghdad surrounded by protesters
After US airstrikes earlier in the week resulted in the deaths of 25 fighters of an Irani Shia group in Iraq, hundreds of angry protesters rushed the gates of the US embassy in Baghdad, including supporters of the paramilitary cell Hashd Shaabi. The protesters marched on the embassy immediately after holding the funerals of the killed fighters.

Merkel resumes duties as German chancellor ending self-quarantine
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has come out of self-quarantine and has returned to her duties in government. She had to go into quarantine after getting a vaccine from a doctor who was later found to have the virus. She tested negative for the virus on Friday and no longer needs to work from home.
