Vietnamese authorities seize tonnes of illegal ivory and pangolin scales

Customs authorities in Vietnam have seized over two tonnes of ivory and pangolin scales coming in from Nigeria. Trading both of these materials is illegal in the country but remains a large problem. Many people in Vietnam believe both materials contain mystical healing properties if used correctly. Much of the demand for these items comes from such beliefs.

Global donkey population threatened by Chinese medicine

Cambodia is planning to ban elephant riding at Angkor Wat

The management for the Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap has announced that elephant rides will not be allowed at the park starting 2020. The elephants that were previously used for this activity will be relocated to a nearby forest. This decision came after some international and local animal rights activists pressured the management.
