Wolf prize granted to scientists working on gene editing technology

Israel's prestigious Wolf Prize has been granted to Jennifer Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier for their work in developing the revolutionary gene-editing tool CRISPR. This technology may allow scientists to permanently get rid of gene-based disease although it is still in the early stages of testing. It is unclear when the technology will be available to the public.
