Uber sues New York City to overturn limits on drivers cruising without passengers

Uber filed a lawsuit against New York City Friday in an effort to overturn rules limiting the amount of time ride-hail drivers can spend in busy parts of the city.
Uber is challenging both rules in this new suit.
Uber is challenging both rules in this new suit. The regulations come on top of new minimum wage rules enacted in February, along with a congestion charge for all for-hire vehicles and yellow taxis.

Uber’s attempt to buy Grubhub facing challenges

According to the reports, Uber's attempt to build the largest meal delivery company in the US by buying its rival Grubhub has immediately come under fire from lawmakers, city officials, and antitrust experts. Uber and Grubhub, currently the second and third-largest US meal delivery companies by market share behind DoorDash, are in talks over a tie-up as the coronavirus crisis accelerates consumer demand for delivery services.

Gold falls by more than $80 per ounce as markets panic

Gold, usually considered a safe haven for investors in times of economic crisis, plunged in value at the Comex in New York and continued falling to hit a one-day low of $1560.40, down by more than $80 from the previous day. 55 million ounces of gold were sold on the market as the price climbed back up beyond $1600 to decline by $70 again.

T-Mobile Sprint merger passes court challenge

A federal court case against US telecom company T-Mobile's merger with Sprint, brought by the states of New York and California, argued that the merger would decrease competition and violate anti-trust laws, but the case has been awarded to T-Mobile since even after the merger the companies will form only the third-largest mobile carrier in the US and will be able to compete better with larger rivals Verizon and AT&T.
