Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has announced that the government will be banning the import and use of e-cigarettes because they are toxic. He went on to say that anyone caught using a vape will be arrested. He made this statement after the first case of vaping related lung injury was confirmed in the country.

The state of California, US, has experienced its third mass shooting in four days, marking the deaths of twelve people in the ensuing violence, with ten injured. The shootings occurred at a high school, a home and a backyard party, and have prompted renewed efforts from gun control activists for demanding major gun policy reforms. Everytown for Gun Safety reports that there have been more than 25 mass shootings this year alone.

International student enrollment declines in the US

For the third year in a row, the total annual enrollment of foreign students in US colleges and universities has continued to decline. The decline began with the arrival of the Trump administration, with enrollment falling by approximately 7 percent in the following year. The Government has stated that the rising tuition cost is the reason. Enrollment declined by 6 percent in 2017 and 1 percent in 2018, the first downturns in a decade.
