The US Army is now starting a security assessment of TikTok, one of the world's most famous apps. The app is owned by a Chinese company and a Democratic lawmaker has raised concerns regarding China's lax privacy laws. The company that owns the app has said that it does not share US user data with the Chinese government, but not everyone is convinced.

Although Christians comprise less than 1 percent of the total population and are largely treated well in modern times, this was not always the case. Days after Iran's National Security Council ordered a complete shutdown of internet services to reduce the impacts of planned mass protests over gasoline price hikes, the country's internet services are gradually being restored, with the Revolutionary Guard reporting that peace has been established, and Amnesty international claiming over 100 protesters killed in the ensuing police action. The Iranian government has rejected the estimate.

Aidwatch study reveals 90% of EU aid never reaches the destination

An Aidwatch study from the European NGO group Concord found that 90 percent of the EU's aid, the world's single largest aid donor group, may never arrive at target countries. This is ascribed to 'inflated aid', which is aid tied to institutions in the donor country rather than to institutions in the developing country. Aidwatch also notes most EU countries' failure to contribute the agreed 0.7 percent of GDP.

Fritz von Weizsacker, son of former German president Richard von Weizsacker, an outstanding doctor and head of a clinic in Berlin was stabbed to death while delivering a medical lecture on liver fat at Schlosspark clinic. The attacker seated in the audience in the first row, jumped up in the middle of the lecture and stabbed von Weizsacker repeatedly. Greece's new conservative government has announced plans for relocating more than 27,000 migrants residing in heavily crowded refugee camps on the islands of Lesbos, Chios, and Samos. The refugees will be relocated to closed centers where they will undergo checks for identification, relocation, and deportation. These places have been likened by campaigners to detention centers since refugees will not be allowed to move freely until their status confirmation.
