Unidentified shooters kill 20 protesters in Iraq, 130 wounded

Anti-government demonstrators in the leaderless protest movement that has erupted in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, were forced out of their residences in Tahrir Square and shot by anonymous gunmen, who killed at least 20 and wounded 130 people, bringing the movement's death toll to 400, with almost 20,000 wounded, since its start in October. Iraqi officials claim the violence was caused by divisions within the demonstrators.

UN claims Iranian government is using lethal force against civilian protesters

The United Nations has said that it has video footage showing Iranian security forces firing live rounds at protestors. The UN Human Rights Commissioner urged the Iranian government to be more transparent regarding the casualties and treatment of detainees. It is estimated that around 208 people have been killed and 7000 have been arrested during the protests.

Mark D'Amico, the man responsible for orchestrating a fake feel-good story on GoFundMe to raise over $400,000, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to fraud. He and his co-conspirator both have to return all of the money to the donors. The story and scam were originally published in 2017.
